David lives outside Edinburgh, Scotland, where he was born. He grew up in a small town in central Scotland, which he left at sixteen for travel and study, spending twelve years elsewhere, before returning to his home country.

Those travels included longer periods in Australia, South America and India, and he has returned to many of those places whenever possible since.

David has been writing all his life, and has completed seven novels, alongside short stories and travel writing. The last three of these novels form the Evermind trilogy combining deaf teenagers, Artificial Intelligence and mass surveillance.

David has a Masters in Artificial Intelligence and has paid the mortgage working on large scale data platforms and analysis for most of his career. His is married to an English teacher, and they have one son. He enjoys the Scottish hills and beaches in all weathers, where he always has a camera to hand.
