About Tamara

Tamara combines writing with owning and running Tales on Moon Lane Children’s Bookshop, twice winner of the Children’s Independent Bookshop of the Year. TOML was voted one of London’s top five bookshops. Now in it’s eleventh year, the shop continues to run a large number of events and festivals and is the bookshop partner for: The Southwark Schools’ Reading Festival, We Read, S.T.R.E.A.M, Word Up, South Kensington Kid’s book festival, Chelsea Young Writer’s Festival, Story Stock and the Southwark Libraries’ Festival.

Tamara has been a judge on The Costa, The UKLA and The Banford Boase book awards. As a former teacher, she also runs INSET training on reading development and talks for parents on reading for pleasure.

Tamara has wide experience of the importance of author events in engaging children in reading. She kicked off a programme of Amazing Esme events with a family circus day launch at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. Attractions included donkey rides, juggling lessons, magicians and clowns! Since then, with the aid of top children’s entertainer, Gilbert Giggles, Tamara has done over one hundred and eighty school author events for the Amazing Esme series for Hodder and the Dylan’s Amazing Dinosaur Series for Simon and Schuster.
